Long story short, don't check the sex of lambs when you are half asleep with no light in the barn 'cause that may not be a navel you just dipped in iodine! He was a gentle soul who spent his lambhood with his favorite bird riding on his back. As an adult, he was still oddl..... Comments

The Shadows Farm is no longer participating in the VOLUNTARY scrapie certification program. We are, of course, still compliant in the mandatory program.
We enrolled in the voluntary program so that we could
1)use imported semen in our A.I. program

Recent changes to the USDA protocols allow farms participating in only the mandatory program to have access to both of the above...... Comments

Didn't realize how long it had been since I posted here. 2007 was very difficult due to the ongoing drought in Alabama. We were very, VERY lucky to find hay for the winter. However, I think the weather issues, lack of grass, etc have impacted the 2008 lambing. At this point, we seem to have a much higher number of ewes NOT lambing than usual. I guess we will just have to see how it plays out. We did have our first lambs born on De..... Comments

Grass has greened up and we have magnolias blooming. Even the plants can't figure out what season it is. Thought I would post some photos of one of the CVM breeding groups. We have our fingers crossed. The best ram we have e..... Comments

Our new Ward ram made a nice showing this year with 80% ewes. We finished with 8 ewe lambs and 2 ram lambs--all white. Now this is what our pasture looks like. Comments
